Aberdeen Lynx is pleased to announce that qualifying supporters will now be able to purchase half-price Essential Companion Tickets for both individual game nights and season tickets.
Last season, we trialled a very limited number of Essential Companion Tickets in the main stand, in addition to those already available within the wheelchair-accessible area. The trial helped us understand the demand for Essential Companion Tickets across the wider arena.
Following consultation with Nimbus Disability, we are introducing a half-price model for the new season. This will allow us to move beyond the limited number previously available and offer Essential Companion Tickets to all qualifying supporters.
The new approach gives supporters greater availability and choice throughout the season while ensuring the provision remains sustainable for Aberdeen Lynx as a volunteer-run charity.
We recognise that Essential Companions can enjoy the action, atmosphere and excitement of watching the Lynx while providing the support that makes it possible for another person to attend. We also understand that their responsibilities may mean they are not always able to experience every aspect of the evening in the same way as other ticket holders.
Offering Essential Companion Tickets at half the standard price recognises the important role companions play while giving them the opportunity to enjoy the game.
Working with Nimbus Disability
Nimbus Disability runs an access-registration scheme that is widely used by venues and organisations throughout the UK.
Nimbus will independently assess access requirements, so supporters will not need to provide sensitive information directly to Aberdeen Lynx.
To qualify for a half-price Essential Companion Ticket, supporters must have the “+1” symbol through one of the following:
- A paid-for Nimbus Access Card, which can be used at participating venues throughout the UK.
- A free Aberdeen Lynx Digital Access Pass, which is valid only for Aberdeen Lynx tickets.
Nimbus verification will be the only way to obtain an Essential Companion Ticket. Aberdeen Lynx will no longer assess eligibility or accept supporting documents directly.
Register before season tickets go on sale
We encourage anyone who may benefit from an Essential Companion Ticket to register ahead of the season-ticket launch and new season.
Booking will be fully digital. Simply enter your Nimbus ID or Digital Access Pass code when purchasing your game-night or season ticket to add the relevant half-price Essential Companion Ticket.
