We’re excited to unveil the lineups for our upcoming Charity Match on Saturday 16th August, which will see Team Rink take on Team Wee Stars in a special pre-season fixture at the Linx Ice Arena (7:15pm face-off).
The game will feature a mix of current Aberdeen Lynx players and alumni, coming together to raise funds and awareness for two local charities.
Familiar Faces and Family Ties Return for the Alumni Game
The upcoming Aberdeen Lynx Charity Game brings together an incredible mix of returning favourites, club legends, and family connections — all of whom have played a part in shaping the club’s story.
Christian Johnson returns to the blue line with the same speed and skill that made him a standout in his Lynx days. Craig Chalmers, recently retired from the SNL, brings a steady presence in net, while Jonathan Hogan, a talented and powerful forward, adds firepower and experience to the lineup.
This special night also celebrates family, with several relatives sharing the ice — or the bench — once again. Fraser and Calum MacEachran bring their signature energy and unpredictability, while brothers Ben and Jamie Edmonds reunite on the forward lines with drive and determination. In a particularly memorable moment, Owen and Toby Reynolds, father and son, will skate side by side — a rare and heartfelt moment for the Lynx community.
There’s sibling rivalry too, as Owen and Ross Michie line up on opposing sides, and the Chalmers brothers both return to action. Off the ice, Pete Leyden returns to the bench to coach his son Jordan, bringing another generation of Lynx experience into the fold.
And adding to the family connections, Jonathan Hogan will take the ice alongside his brother-in-law Mark McAndrew, while his sister Leanne McAndrew also makes a return behind the bench as a coach.
With legends returning, families reuniting, and memories waiting to be made, this charity game is set to be a true celebration of the Lynx legacy.
Supporting Local Charities
This year’s charity game was set to support Mental Health Aberdeen and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars. Sadly, Mental Health Aberdeen has recently closed due to a lack of funding — a stark reminder of the challenges faced by local charities and the importance of community support.
Although MHA can no longer accept donations, Team Rink will proudly wear the MHA logo in recognition of the vital work they carried out. A replacement charity will be announced soon, with proceeds from the game and jersey auction split equally between them and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars.
