Aberdeen Lynx is one of the city’s most ambitious sports clubs and the team’s spirit of adventure is proving attractive to fans and businesses alike.
The city’s premier ice hockey team has just secured a five-figure sum in key sponsorship from a leading oil and gas services company ahead of its upcoming season in the Scottish National League.
The major deal with The Rigmar Group has been signed off only a few days before the Lynx’s first game of the season in the SNL Autumn Cup against arch-rivals Dundee Tigers, which takes place on Saturday, September 5.
The company has pledged its support, following a number of successful junior hockey camps and the continuing development of the junior team.
The Lynx attract up to 1100 fans at home games during the SNL season and is the city’s second most supported sports club, behind Aberdeen FC.
The not-for-profit club relies solely on donations, sponsorship from local companies and ticket sales.
Jordan Leyden, captain of the Aberdeen Lynx ice hockey team, said: ”We are absolutely delighted to have The Rigmar Group as our main sponsor.
“Without their support, we would not be able to develop our juniors in the way we have over the past few years and events such as taking two of the junior sides to Belfast last season and establishing the annual hockey camps would not have been achievable.
“These events are now fundamental dates in our calendar year and it is really important to be able to educate and train our youngsters to the highest standard.”
This year, the club has already doubled the number of season ticket holders in comparison to 2014 and has frozen ticket prices for the 2015-16 season.
Fans can now purchase their tickets online in advance of games here.
