Well, it’s that time of the year when our players, both seniors and juniors, have sharpened their skates and are preparing in earnest for the new fast approaching hockey season. It’s not long now until we face the Dundee Comets at home for the first game of the Stuart Robertson Cup. Join us at the Linx Ice Arena at 7pm on 31st August 2019.
During the summer the Aberdeen Lynx committee, coaches, managers and volunteers have had very little down time as we prepared and planned for the new season ahead. And what a summer of change it has been!
Firstly I took over the chairman role from our former chairman, Martin Hill. Martin stepped down just a few weeks ago and it was a huge honour for me to be voted in to this role. I am humbled to have such a fine group of people alongside me on the committee who are second to none. Together we will all ensure that the Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Club moves forward, not only for this season but many seasons to come, as a well organised club and force to be reckoned with.
As with all sports we saw a few players leave for pastures new and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their service to the club and wish them every success in their new ventures. As we move forward, we have exciting new signings thanks to the tireless efforts of our head coach, Owen Reynolds. He has secured experienced players to the SNL roster to boost the lines, as well as bringing in some younger players to secure the future of our team.
We have even more hockey to look forward to this season too with the addition to the SNL of the Belfast Giants and the Solway Sharks. These teams will be tough opponents but definitely entertaining fixtures and these games must not to be missed!
With a new season comes new sponsors. We are delighted to welcome on board our new main sponsor M&H Logistics Ltd. This family run freight, haulage, distribution and warehouse business has been servicing the Aberdeen area and beyond since 1987.
As well as having a new main sponsor we are also pleased to welcome back, LeMack Oilfield Rentals Ltd and The Aberdeen Altens Hotel. We thank them both immensely for their continued support for the club. We are also delighted that Border Digital, REWlax, Evening Express and Original 106 will also be retuning. It is only with the help and support from all our corporate partners can we move onwards and upwards as a club.

I am also delighted to announce our chosen charity for the next two seasons is Friends of ANCHOR. This is a charity that is close to the hearts of many at the club, with the excellent treatment, care and support they offer having helped patients and families from Aberdeen and all over the North of Scotland. We are looking forward to welcoming them into the Aberdeen Lynx family with open arms and working with them over the coming season.
Please also be prepared for some new activities and match day surprises courtesy of our new match day co-ordinator and volunteers. With all these new initiatives and changes I am sure you’re all feeling just like myself, the committee and volunteers, that we can’t wait for the season to begin.
So, let’s make it loud and proud again this season at the Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Club and get right behind our teams from all age groups from the Mini Lynx to the SNL.
