With rollercoaster of a season the Lynx took home some silverware from the Play-Offs in Dundee.
This was the first weekend Play-Off event organised by Scottish Ice Hockey, with the semi-finals for both the Aurora Cup and Play-Off Cup on the Saturday with the finals on the Sunday.
A 8-4 win against the Belfast Giants in the semi-final secured a place in the Sunday Aurora Cup final for the Lynx who took on Kilmarnock Thunder after Kilmarnock knocked out the Paisley Pirates in a thrilling shoot out.
With the home supporters ‘loud and proud’ in the stands for the final the boys went on to secure a 8-1 win against the Kilmarnock side to take home the newly created Aurora Cup.
Lynx Chairperson, John Colley said: “ The Lynx have done well, placing 2nd in the league and taking home some silverware, given the challenges this year this performance shouldn’t be underestimated. The success of the season culminating in the Playoff Weekend is testament to the hard work and collaboration between all teams in the league.”
“This season has been tough on all levels for many reasons. The start stop caused by the pandemic, significant changes in SIH and the fact that there are still facilities not open or at reduced operational levels. The team and the whole club, along with our sponsors, the loyal fans and volunteers who have done an amazing job and we extend our thanks to every one of them.”
“We lose some of the key players to retirement, Fraser and Calum Macheachran, and Iain Malcolm. These guys have been stalwarts of the club, building what we have today. We all wish them well as they retire from the sport.”
“Now we start to prepare for next seasons campaign which I am certain will be even bigger and better.”
